Records of Library Committee include minutes, 1913-1925, letter books, 1913-1922, letter books of R.T.H. Halsey, Chairman of the Exchange, 1913-1920, and William C. Van Antwerp, Secretary, 1913-1916, regarding speculation, incorporation of exchange, distribution of information to schools and colleges, and World War I; also includes personal letters of R.T.H. Halsey, particularly his interests in art and colonial silver, and of William C. Van Antwerp. Records of Committee on Publicity include minutes, 1925-1935, press releases, 1925, 1933, regarding committee work at distribution of photographs, films, and drawings to the media, production of radio and motion picture programs. Committee on Public Relations minutes, 1935-1941. Department records include executive files, including correspondence and other material, 1964-1976; and packets containing reports, memoranda, samples of advertising campaigns, film scripts, and correspondence, 1954-1968. Also, alphabetical clipping files, ca. 1929-ca. 1981.

Halsey, R. T. Haines (Richard Townley Haines), 1865-1942

R.T. Haines Halsey was an 1886 graduate of Princeton University. He worked on the New York Stock Exchange from 1899 to 1923 when he retired to devote time to the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was a trustee and chairman of the commitee on American Decorative Art at the museum and was instrumental in opening the Wing. He was an avid collector of Americana and wrote many articles linking American history with decorative arts. From the description of Research papers...
